The Path of Least Resistance
Nobody's Perfect
Trenchant Insights
How'd this song come to be? I heard that a friend at the time, while high, had completely destroyed an entire room, yelled at a bunch of strangers, and generally made a spectacular ass of himself. It was apparently a class A disaster. My immediate response to the description of this display was, "Well yeah – nobody's perfect." It was hilarious. And true.
This song took forever to finish. I blame excess rocking.
Lyrics
Last night I made a mistake.
It's not something I care to relate.
It's enough to know I will pay
for the things that I have done.
We know we should know better.
Or at least we should know whether
the times we can't remember
are the times we're having fun.
Nobody's perfect.
We all fall down sometimes.
Nobody's perfect
and it's hard to get it right.
A model citizen during the day.
Professional in every way.
She let's it out when it's time to go play
and let's us see what's really there.
She knows she could do better
than just a weekend bender.
Because it's hard to care
about a fuzzy navel nightmare.
Nobody's perfect.
We all fall down sometimes.
Nobody's perfect.
We can't seem to get it right.
It's just honesty.
That comes naturally.
And oh so easily
every night.
We'll overcompensate
and exaggerate.
But when the hour is late
then it's time to feel alright.
I've been told she's the dangerous type.
And I've been told I'm too old to play nice.
And we're two hours into the night
so let's see what we'll become.
